Women’s Aid Organisation and La Gourmet’s relationship began in 2007 when they decided to go beyond serving its delectable cuisine and engage in charitable causes. La Gourmet decided to help by placing the WAO donation boxes at the restaurant to collect proceeds which were directed towards the maintenance and upkeep of the WAO Refuge and Child Care Centre. The Refuge acts as a temporary shelter for battered women and their children. The WAO Child Care Centre provides the children of ex-residents a home, education at local schools and a support system to meet their physical, mental and emotional needs. It is therefore, no surprise that La Gourmet House has once again come to assist WAO by organizing a fundraising buffet dinner on 5th December 2008, offering guests a memorable evening full of charm, live music and songs, scrumptious food and to end the evening on a high, a live salsa performance! While enjoying the evening with friends and family guests will be entertained by the soulful voice of Zamil Idris from Malaysian Idol, a string quartet performance as well as a cello performance by friends of the organisation. Invitations are by a minimum donation of RM200.00. Guests can also look forward to a raffle draw with attractive prizes up for grabs!
