Facts and figures do not lie First the bad news ~ at least one woman in every three has been abused in her lifetime, in Asia and elsewhere, reported The Sun on 25/09/00. Based on a World Health Organisation report, interpersonal violence was the 10th leading cause of death for women 15 - 44 years of age in 1998. Recent statistics by the Police show that between January - September 2000, there were 2136 reported cases of domestic violence, 926 reported cases of rape and 930 cases of outrage of modesty.
