WAO CORPORATE SUPPORT

ARAB MALAYSIAN FOUNDATION
In 1996, Arab Malaysian Foundation has pledged a certain sum to WAO, which was distributed to us over the period of 4 years. The fund has largely been used for carrying out WAO's operational activities and this commitment had eased our burden of seeking funds annually to support operations. This commitment has also enabled WAO to have a longer term vision and the time otherwise used to seek for funds, was spent on other equally important matters such as monitoring the Domestic Violence Act and advocacy of women's rights in Malaysia.

THE BODY SHOP
In 1997, WAO and The Body Shop collaborated in a public education project titled "Love Your Body, Love Your Self". The main aim of this project was to educate women to accept and love their bodies as it is and not conform to the image that the media has been portraying all these time of how a woman is supposed to look like. Throughout the campaign, posters and information was handed out to customers of The Body Shop and donation tins were also available for the public to contribute to WAO.

In August 2000, WAO and The Body Shop got together once again to launch the "Stop Violence Against Women" campaign. The objective was to create awareness of the different kinds of violence that can happen to any woman and to provide them information on what they can do if they find themselves in such a situation. The information was distributed out to The Body Shop customers throughout the 3-week campaign and as before, the public had the opportunity to donate through the donation tins placed at the outlets.

OCBC MASTERCARD
Early in November 2000, OCBC Bank launched its MasterCard. WAO received a donation from OCBC Bank, however users of OCBC MasterCard will also have the opportunity to donate to WAO. Users of the OCBC MasterCard who will be awarded Bonus Points each time they use the card, have the option at the end of every year, to donate those Bonus Points to the Women's Aid Organisation Child Care Centre.

WAO welcomes the innovative way in which OCBC is contributing to us and we hope that through these examples, more corporations will realise that their contributions are invaluable to charity organizations and will come forward in show of support to the cause.
