Some signs he is changing

• Has he completely stopped saying and doing things that frighten you?
• Can you express anger towards him without being punished for it?
• Does it feel safe to bring up topics that you know upset him?
• Has he stopped expecting you to do things for him?
• Can you spend time with your friends without being afraid ?
• Can you do other things that are important to you such as volunteer or go for night classes?
• Are you comfortable with the way he interacts with the children?
• Do you feel safe leaving them alone with him?
• Does he give you compliments?
• Does he listen to you?
• Does he do his share of housework and childcare ?
• Is he receiving counselling or treatmant, does he complain that you made him do it?

Some signs he is NOT

• He does not listen to your opinion
• He argues in an abusive and domineering way
• He tells you that you are abusive
• He tells you that you owe him another chance
• He says he cannot change without your support
• He tries to get the children to feel sorry for him
• He instills fear in the children about the future, or finances or where they will live
• You have to keep reminding him about going for counselling
• He is pressuring you to withdraw your police report
